[image]Possible issues with a DSG or S-tronic transmission:
The DSG or S-tronic transmission is a complex system designed for added comfort. Like most car components, the DSG or S-tronic transmission is prone to wear and potential defects. When it fails to function properly, you may encounter issues such as:
The services provided by Autobedrijf Hong-Paul include:
The DSG (Double Shift Gear) transmission is considered one of the best automatic transmissions currently available. With its dual-clutch design, the DSG combines the sportiness and fuel efficiency of a manual gearbox with the comfort of an automatic. However, a significant drawback is that the DSG is not a custom-tailored product and often suffers from issues like vibrations and unwanted downshifts during acceleration. Are you looking for a lasting solution? We are here to help you solve these problems.
Which VAG DSG/S-tronic transmissions do we adjust?
The DSG or S-tronic transmissions we customize through software include:
DSG or S-tronic 'Stage One' tuning:
The basic tuning (Stage 1) includes increasing the torque limiter in the DSG software and raising the shift pressure. We also disable the 'kickdown' feature in manual mode. When the accelerator is pressed, the DSG often downshifts unnecessarily before accelerating. For diesel vehicles with high torque, this is unnecessary and even undesirable, as it is better to stay in the same gear. Surprisingly, in the original DSG software, the kickdown feature activates even when manual mode is selected. Additionally, the transmission will automatically upshift at a preset RPM limit. By modifying the DSG software, the transmission will hold the engine limiter in manual mode without upshifting. This makes the car ideal for those who enjoy raw speed, whether on the racetrack or the German Autobahn.
Maximum RPM:
But that’s not all. We also remove the automatic upshifting at maximum RPM. For petrol engines, we increase the maximum RPM, while for diesel engines, we lower it. Why? Simple. The original DSG software configuration shifts at 6,800 rpm, which is fine for standard cars, but vehicles with larger turbos may benefit from a higher RPM limit. Therefore, we offer the option to increase it. For diesel engines, the transmission typically shifts between 4,800 and 5,000 rpm, but their maximum power is usually around 4,000 rpm. Lowering the RPM limit helps optimize the power band, resulting in better driving performance, improved fuel efficiency, and a smoother overall experience.

Benefits and the ultimate solution with DSG or S-tronic tuning:
We offer several options per transmission to optimize the DSG or S-tronic. These include customizing the D + S program, adjusting the RPM limit, and reducing unwanted downshifts.
