Mechatronic
The DSG transmission features numerous sensors. All these sensors send their signals to the mechatronics for processing. The electronic/hydraulic control is handled by the mechatronic control unit, which acts as the brain of the DSG transmission. Every imaginable sensor sends information to this unit, which is controlled both electrically and hydraulically. The mechatronic unit manages gear shifts and clutch engagement, making it crucial that the software and valve housing remain fault-free.

DSG or S-tronic 'Stage One' tuning:
The basic tuning (Stage 1) involves increasing the torque limiter in the DSG software and raising the shift pressure. We also disable the 'kickdown' function in manual mode. When the accelerator is pressed, the DSG often unnecessarily downshifts before the car accelerates. For diesel vehicles with high torque, this is unnecessary and undesirable, so it’s better to stay in the same gear. Strangely, in the original DSG software, the kickdown is activated even when manual mode is selected. Additionally, the transmission will automatically shift up at a preset RPM limit. By modifying the DSG software, the car will maintain the engine limiter in manual mode without shifting up. These adjustments make the car ideal for those seeking raw speed, whether on a race track or the German Autobahn.
Maximum RPM:
But that’s not all. We also eliminate automatic upshifting at maximum RPM. For petrol engines, we raise the maximum RPM, while for diesel engines, we lower it. The stock DSG software shifts at 6,800 RPM, which is acceptable for standard cars but limits models with larger turbos that can benefit from higher RPMs. For diesel engines, where maximum power is usually around 4,000 RPM, we lower the maximum RPM (except in the highest gear) to avoid unnecessary revving. This results in better performance, driving experience, and fuel consumption.
Problems with DSG or S-tronic transmissions:
- Vibrations during gear shifts:
Vibrations when accelerating or shifting from 1st to 2nd gear often indicate damage. We can fix, reduce, and prevent this through software.
- Engine lag:
Poor response when accelerating from a slow speed is usually due to clutch wear. We can fix this through software for smoother responses.
- Vibrations at low RPM:
Software issues can cause the car to shift to 7th gear at just 58 km/h and 1,200 RPM. We resolve this by adjusting the RPM thresholds.
- Excessive sport mode:
The "S" program can be overly aggressive, causing excess engine noise and fuel consumption. We can optimize it for better performance.
- Unwanted kickdown:
The gearbox often unnecessarily downshifts when the accelerator is pressed. We can fix this through software for a smoother ride.
Benefits and solutions with DSG or S-tronic tuning:
We offer various options to optimize the DSG or S-tronic transmission, including D + S program adjustments, RPM optimizations, and minimizing unwanted downshifts.
- Increase torque
- Remove torque limiter
- Improve shift time (± 20ms)
- Raise maximum shift RPM
- Launch control RPM adjustments
